So he started at 4:30 a.m. with an hour long run. Then, a few hours later, he did the most insane obstacle course I’ve ever seen. It took 24 minutes and 7 seconds to complete. The other team from Ft. Polk took 45 minutes to complete it.
From there, they were supposed to jump from a helicopter, but it got nixed because of bad weather. Instead, they went to three different ranges, one using weapons from WWII. When he was done, they told him that he and his partner had the 10th best score on the ranges (out of 50 teams).
He finished those at about 6:30 p.m., and immediately started a land navigation course (read: they stick you in the woods with a bunch of points to plot and a compass) that lasts about 3 or 4 hours.
As soon as he finishes that, he’ll immediately start an unknown distance road march with 50lbs on his back. It’s unknown distance, because basically they just march until guys stop walking fast enough, and start eliminating teams. They will probably eliminate half the teams during the road march. Once they have, they’ll let the non-eliminated teams finish.
That should be some time around 9 tomorrow morning, at which point they stick each other with IVs to stay hydrated, and start tomorrow’s events, which are weapons assembly (they take apart 4 weapons and throw the pieces in a box and let them put ‘em back together), rappelling & climbing, and some more stress shoots.
Tomorrow night they have night land nav, and then they start the water events on Sunday morning.
I have a zillion pictures. I’ll post them when I get a chance. This is MADNESS. But they’re kicking ass.

That sounds intense… and kinda fun. Although the only weapon thrown into a box that I could assemble would be brass knuckles. Or maybe a gun made out of lego.
well, they seem to be having fun. Every time I see them they’re smiling and joking, so I guess they’re hangin’ in.
crazy!
